Theresa’s background in civil engineering provides a unique perspective and insight for the firm’s clients. Theresa graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University with an emphasis in environmental engineering. Theresa joined an engineering firm in South Bend, where she provided design services, prepared environmental assessments, annexation services, and CDBG grant applications.

While studying at Valparaiso University’s School of Law, she was selected to participate in the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court competition for intellectual property. Theresa was also selected to be a teaching assistant in the legal writing and research program. In addition to her coursework, Theresa clerked for the Honorable Lorenzo Arredondo in Lake County, Indiana.

Theresa has spoken on various construction topics at seminars sponsored by the Lorman Education Services, several private companies, and local builder’s associations. Theresa practiced law in Indianapolis with a construction law firm for eight years where she tried several cases to verdict and handled the appeals.

  • Successfully defended developer from condemnation claim when private owner argued flooding from development caused home to be uninhabitable
  • Negotiated settlement of hazardous waste cleanup plan with IDEM on property purchased with undisclosed underground storage tank
  • Successfully negotiated settlement of claim by major Indiana city against highway contractor and surveyor when new road was constructed 12’ off center
