Leilani Lillian was born and raised in Magnolia, Texas. She holds an undergraduate degree in Astrophysics from Rice University, where she received the A.J. Dessler Prize for high achievement in that discipline and had the opportunity to assist with data analysis for the Hubble Space Telescope Science Institute. She earned her law degree at the University of Michigan School of Law where she fell in love with the Midwest and the Uniform Commercial Code.
Before joining Stuart & Branigin, Leilani Lillian practiced in Texas in legal fields as diverse as bankruptcy, international immigration, and business formation. She also has experience in patent law, regulatory law, products liability, and international business transactions. During her time at Stuart & Branigin, Leilani has served clients in a variety of areas, including personal injury, insurance disputes, trusts & estates, federal qui tam litigation, and appellate litigation. Leilani especially enjoys appellate work and advising her business clients regarding entity formation, joint ventures, and agreements involving intellectual property.
Leilani’s experience in Intellectual Property Law and her background in physics enable her to understand the rapidly changing world of Artificial Intelligence and how it impacts various areas of the law. Leilani is committed to ensuring that each of her clients understands the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence on their products, services, and property rights.
Leilani firmly believes in making lawyers and legal advice accessible to all members of this community. She has served as a volunteer with Indiana Legal Services and currently sits on the board of directors of Legal Aid of Northwest Indiana.
Leilani is licensed to practice law in Indiana and Texas. Outside of legal practice, Leilani enjoys camping and hiking with her husband and their children, improv comedy, native plants—and, of course, astronomy.
