Stephen R Pennell, a partner of Stuart & Branigin LLP, was recently awarded the President’s Award by the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA) at its annual meeting in Maui, HI. The President’s Award is given to a member selected by the President based on outstanding service to the ADTA during the past year. Mr. Pennell was presented with the award for his service to the organization during 2010-2011 as Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee and Chair of the New Generation Committee while also serving on the Executive Council of the ADTA.

The ADTA is a national organization of about 700 attorneys whose practice involves the defense of clients in civil litigation. Membership is limited to members of one law firm in a community and is by invitation only. The ADTA has two main objectives: to provide an opportunity for the proven successful defense trial attorney to associate with similarly qualified trial attorneys and to identify the successful defense trial attorney for those in search of such an attorney.

Mr. Pennell has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of cases including antitrust, insurance coverage, employment, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, business, construction, school and education law, and wills and estates. He also has considerable experience in appellate matters and has successfully argued cases in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Indiana Supreme Court, and Indiana Court of Appeals.
