Katherine “Kat” Bingaman was born and raised in the greater Lafayette area. Kat earned her degrees in Political Science and Law & Society from Purdue University, graduating with Highest Distinction. While at Purdue, she received Phi Beta Kappa honors and was nominated as an Outstanding Senior in Political Science.
She continued her legal education at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she served as an Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunity (ICLEO) Fellow and a Judge Coordinator for the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. Kat also clerked for the Honorable Mary Ellen Diekhoff in Monroe County. Her scholarly work was published in the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, where Kat served as an Articles Editor.
Kat’s practice areas encompass commercial litigation, specifically education disputes, contract litigation, construction lawsuits, and other general litigation matters. Her legal journey began as a summer associate at an AmLaw 100 firm, where she gained valuable experience working with large-scale clients on complex lawsuits. Kat later clerked for Stuart & Branigin during law school and ultimately returned to the firm to serve her community.
Before law school, Kat worked in the criminal justice system and spent time designing kitchens. She brings that same attention to detail and care into her legal work. Kat is passionate about community outreach, harm reduction, and, begrudgingly, the Chicago White Sox.
