A. Shane Hobson


Shane is a valued member of the Stuart & Branigin litigation team with experience serving a wide range of clients, from individuals to leading nonprofits to large corporations.

Shane’s broad capabilities in litigation stem from his early – and ongoing – involvement with the firm’s work for railroad clients.  This includes trial and appeals experience in Federal Employers’ Liability Act cases, representation in grade crossing litigation, and resolution of matters related to railroad renovations and grade crossing improvements.  He is relied on to draft motions, file petitions, conduct depositions, perform research, prepare contracts, and assist with trial strategy.

Shane’s broad capabilities in litigation stem from his early – and ongoing – involvement with the firm’s work for railroad clients.  

In addition to his work in railroad litigation, Shane is regularly involved with premises liability, commercial litigation, and employment litigation cases for higher education clients and for privately held businesses.  He also represents individuals in selected litigation, including adult guardianship matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Shane served in the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office and completed a year of service with AmeriCorps, working with a New Mexico nonprofit focused on food sustainability.  While at Indiana University, he was an editor of the school’s law review and a finalist in the moot court competition.

He is a native of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and a participant in the Leadership Lafayette program.
