Jason W. Cottrell, partner of the Lafayette-based Stuart & Branigin law firm has been appointed to serve as a member of the Commercial Court Advisory Committee. Commercial Courts were established in 2019 to provide venues to allow business and commercial disputes to be resolved with special expertise, technology, and efficiency. The courts employ and encourage electronic information technologies, such as e-filing, e-discovery, telephone/video conferencing, and innovative alternative dispute resolution interventions in order to enhance the accuracy, consistency, and predictability of court decisions in business and commercial cases. The commercial court system is designed to enhance economic development throughout the state while improving court efficiency for all court users. Tippecanoe County permanently established its court in 2025 and is one of eleven (11) commercial courts statewide.

An Indiana native, longtime resident of the greater Lafayette area, and longtime member of the Tippecanoe County Bar Association, Jason has represented public and private companies in commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters for more than twenty years and is a leader of Stuart & Branigin’s commercial litigation and creditor’s rights practices.
